February 2026 Community Update

Dear Holy Trinity Parishioners,
The intent of this letter is to share the progress of the Vision Committee. As you know, we devoted much of our time last year gathering data about Holy Trinity and its parishioners. The Committee is pleased to share this update on Phase 1 progress from 2025, highlighting key findings for our ministries and facilities through 2050.

Phase 1: Data Gathering and Analysis
Phase 1 is complete and comprehensive.  Focused on identifying primary needs aligned with our mission to “Be the Church”- fostering faith, fellowship, thriving ministries, belonging, Orthodoxy growth, and Greek cultural roots.

  • The Committee engaged WGM Design Architects for:
    • 78 face-to-face interviews with 103 participants (staff, clergy, ministries like Stewardship, Greek Folk Dance, Youth Sunday School).
    • A parish-wide survey (398 responses from ~1,220 families), capturing demographics (Questions 4–12) and opinions (Questions 13–23).
    • Parish wide survey findings validate and are consistent with interview findings
  • We also conducted facilities assessments:
    • WGM performed a facilities assessment as part of their scope.
    • Giles Flythe Engineers inspected the East Blvd. Cathedral Campus and provided recommendations for repair, replacement and renovation, which will be reviewed by the IRRC (Improvements Repairs Renovations Committee) followed by guidance and recommendations to the parish.
    • The Hellenic Park Committee will continue to gauge developer interest and obtain purchase proposals for Hellenic Park. This ongoing effort is vital for future planning at Hellenic Park and East Blvd. campuses, and the committee’s efforts will be to develop recommendations to the parish.

Thank you to everyone who participated!

Key Findings:

  • Findings show a vibrant parish supporting core values: deep Orthodoxy faith, unity, cultural preservation, filoxenia (hospitality, Yiasou Festival), fellowship, multi-generational focus, with East Blvd. as the spiritual heart. We excel in youth programs (largest: Hellenic Youth Dance, Youth Sunday School, Soccer).
  • Demographics: Wide radius across Charlotte metro with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral being centrally located; both campuses are strategically located for the majority of parishioners and our demographics align well with our two current campuses.

Key needs:

  • Spiritual/Community:Focus on youth, family, and broader community.  Emphasis on growing families/youth (expanded programs, education, sports, dance); multigenerational connections; preserving Greek heritage (language, traditions); outreach (e.g., Festival), newcomer welcome, senior engagement, and mentorship.  Both East Blvd. and Hellenic Park campuses are important with Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral remaining the community’s spiritual center and hub.
  • Facilities/Ministries: Growth has exceeded facilities’ ability to accommodate needs. Concerns for inadequate size, quality and availability of facilities. The East Blvd. campus is in need of upgrades to aging buildings, Father “C” Hall (e.g., 65% indicate current facilities inadequate, 60% support renovation/replacement); dedicated banquet hall and gymnasium (e.g., 63% indicate existing gym inadequate as multi-use facility); For the Hellenic Park campus, 90% support mission-aligned development (e.g., athletics, youth programs, events); a majority open to partial property sale for funding if needed, but 76% oppose full sale. ~ 88% surveyed were willing to contribute to capital campaign

The complete survey results and report can be found by clicking the button above, which we encourage you to review. During the Vision Committee update at the Spring General Assembly scheduled for March 1, 2026, the agenda will include time to discuss the survey results, answer questions, and share comments on the next phase of the Strategic Plan.

Sincerely,

The Vision Through Faith Committee
